I had to ship a couple of fuel pipes to WPC last month and I shipped them back in airbag boxes that we had stocked up here. The boxes had the 9 label and I just crossed out the UN # on the box and wrote the proper UN # above the label.

We did not get debited back.

Did you use UN3528?

UN3363.
It is on the BOL for Central Transport just have to check it. UN3363, Dangerous goods in apparatus, 9 , ERG #171

BOHICA

excerpt from an email from my DMA:

Starting 1 June HAZMAT debits will be issued for shipping parts to the WPC NOT complaint with DOT HAZMAT requirements. Please take the time to review the training requirements for HAZMAT as debit reversals will NOT be considered within the Region. I’ve included all HAZMAT correspondence and training materials for your reference attached to this email. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

So can we not pay for parts shipped to us that are not compliant? (engines, transmissions, transfer cases)

I wish my DMA would advise me of stuff like that. Mine is only worried about getting us to stock more parts when they can't even tell us when parts are going to arrive, or even send us parts that we need to complete repairs.... He's only worried about selling stuff to hand out trips to the races and shit like that.

 I'm here to take care of my customers and make money for my employer. Quit coming up with stupid side shit and just let me do my job.

Let me try to understand this, they are debiting you for sending something back hazmat and it is not?? Man it has gotten ridiculous! They don't want to pay on anything anymore.. I sent back a fuel injector, empty not leaking no fuel inside, all return paperwork said it was NOT hazmat they debited me because they said it was hazmat! I am glad I got away from the General. These days remind me of the days leading up to 08 and 09...

If it had fuel in the part at any time I always ship back Haz Mat; have not had an issue yet. Always use Haz Mat for core engines or used fuel pipes.

we recently just tried taking the WPC parts to UPS with the WPC label, and pay for them to package and send parts with the necessary Hazmat DOT certs.. You pay for the service ,but it cheap insurance as apposed to getting fined.
