STOLEN WHEELS

STOLEN WHEELS

Postby last8please » Fri May 03, 2019 3:09 pm

Saw on the news of a Louisiana dealership getting 31 vehicles hit.. I am in NW Wisconsin, this same thing happened last fall to all the dealerships around here. Luckily we only had 4 trucks hit. Stuns me that someone can do this so calmly.

Swap meets or Craigslist postings as well. Lots of demand for "Take Off" Wheels out there.

Way back in the dark ages of the 70's I worked in LA for some folks who had a Toyota store and a BMW store. Some guy wandered through the Toyota store and stole an impact. Next day a guy comes to the BMW store and tries to sell an impact. Same one. It had part of the SSN of the owner engraved on the impact. So coupla guys grabbed the guy and we called the cops. The tech who owned the impact was called and he came and identified it for the LAPD guys.
So what happened? He got the tool back and they let the guy go.

We had a pretty elaborate theft occur here a few years back. I wasn't here at the time but from what I've been told, the guy broke into our delivery trucks, stole the jacks, then used the jacks to lift the truck with the tires he was targeting. We also had an incident where a man tried to steal two plows on his flatbed. The cameras did not capture his face but luckily his company logo and name were on the side of the flat bed hahahahahaha
