Anyone have a parts delay cause a buyback yet???

Postby Whiner » Tue Jul 30, 2019 1:31 am

I had my first conversation with a customer today that wants to apply the state lemon law. In our state a new (less than 18 months / 18,000 miles) vehicle cannot be down for more than 30 days with a safety / significant value issue. Been waiting since June 20 for an air bag part.

Have any of you had this happen - yet?

We got close to one on a transmission valve body order.
There was one in one of the trailers outside in Pontiac.
I mentioned buy back and we got our part the next day fedex overnight.
My list of contacts grew on who can really help us get a backordered part expedited.

You would think that your DM should be able to help with that. Like send you a whole transmission instead. Why I say that is that a customer ordered a trans pan from me , I put a spac case out on it,
3 months later they asked if they could send me the complete transmission and then when I return it without the pan then I would receive the credit. I asked my DM if this was for real, he said yes.
In the end I was afraid of getting fucked by the General and never gave my customer the option. The part(trans pan only) arrived a month later and my customer was ok with that. Keeping your customers posted on backorders makes you look like you care.
