Cancelling "written" orders (GM)

Hi guys,

I just took over a GM store last week, I am from the Hyundai and Nissan world so this has been a little bit of a shell shock to me.

I am trying to cancel some orders that just say "written" under "view order status detail". I select them, then hit cancel backorder and it just keeps me an error code saying that it can not be cancelled.

These orders arent moving and I do not need them anymore. Am I doing something wrong or is there just nothing to do but get the part?

This clearly was a poor time to get into a GM store, and man am I rethinking this opportunity lol.

You might try sitting on hold for a couple of hours to speak to someone in India to see if they can cancel them but you are probably wasting your time.

Once an order writes to a PDC, you most likely won't be able to cancel it. Only if it is truly back-ordered (PDC88).

Good luck with the new position, and don't be afraid to use this forum..... There are some very knowledgeable people on here.

Some of them have been "written" for weeks. This is pathetic that we can't even cancel them. It'll save them time and effort so they can focus on fulfilling orders that are actually needed at this point.

But that would make sense and GM does not have, use or endorse the use of.

It has a list of PDC's and their contact information if available. You can try reaching out to your PDC liaison and see if they can assist you, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

I asked about this a while back. This is the answer I received:

"Parts manager should call spac, spac will be able to cancel orders if they have not written to a warehouse. If they have, we will allow dealer to return using MOE process or special MR type pdc can generate. Returns will be looked at individually, after we get out of strike and get network recovered."

"Get network recovered." Not promising.
