lube bay parts

lube bay parts

Postby fxwgrider80 » Wed Jan 29, 2020 4:19 pm

We have a separate lube bay on the other side of building from parts and service.
Want to streamline a little with stock filters in lube bay. Anyone have a similar
situation? If I do this I will probably take a daily inventory/replenishment.
Any advice?

Thanks

we have the situation here, started out with oil , air and cabin filters - but ended up taking air and cabin back inside parts dept because so many were being installed without being billed out or they installed a carbon instead of the particulate (or vice/versa). a lot easier to just have oil filters out there.

We have the same situation. We have only oil filters, and Ac-Delco wiper blades in the quick lane are, & the advisors bill them on the work orders.

We do an inventory on both at the end of the day every Friday. I tally up the shorts and the overs, make my inventory adjustments, and then if we are short as far as $'s, that amount....+ markup is billed back to the quick lane. I seems to work pretty well.

When we first started our quick lane we did not inventory every week and what a mess it became in a hurry, we were running out of filters and wiper blades.
Now that we monitor this, our service manager watches the quick lane supplies and holds the advisors accountable for the inventory.

I appreciate your input. I figured I would need to keep a close eye on it.
If its not bolted down it will probably walk.

Thanks

We have oil filters out there only. I run a labor op report every day to check closed orders from the previous day to capture oil changes that did not get parts billed out on them. I get about 3-7 a week. When I do catch one with no parts, I charge the parts to service policy as the tech did not send up the request and the writer also missed it on the ro when they closed it.

The last dealership I worked at had a separate quick lube dept. And they had a small parts department. We sold them parts at 5% over cost and the writers were required to bill out their own parts. They got inventoried every 6 months and they were pretty close every time.
