Old parts

Old parts

Postby Partsgm » Sun Feb 02, 2020 11:03 pm

I am new to GM and have some old parts sitting on the shelves that I would like to sell. Heck, I even have some CSO parts that were ordered and never used. I have D2D link. What's the best way to sell some of this stock I have? I noticed some people use eBay through OEC. I can see that I might have to take a hit and sell below cost. I need to make a list and get someone to buy up all my stuff!!

With CSO's you have two options. If it is below 12 months you can take a 35% hit and return it to GM or use your return reserve. You can list everything in D2D at a discount and take a smaller lose when they are sold or use your return reserve. Other than use Ebay and other e-commerce there isn't much to do, but take a lose, the question is how large of a hit do you take.

Of course the things you know already is to make sure customer pay customers, both service and parts prepay. Any part that was ordered by misdiagnosis gets the 35% charged back to service. Same if it from the new or used care departments. That helps make sure that everyone keeps on their toes. Mistakes happen so I do it by case by case. I don't let it sit there 12 months. It either stays or goes. Only exceptions are where I see that other dealers in the area may stock the part and what the sales are.

Depending on your location, some volume dealers will purchase new old stock from you for a significantly reduced price. When a dealer I worked for purchased a dealership down the street; a big dealer in the next town bought everything ineligible for the termination return.
