New Parts Manager here.

Postby RSTOOKEY » Mon Jun 08, 2020 9:37 pm

Hello guys and Gals,
Wanting to introduce my self. My name is RIck. I am a newbie to GM Parts. I have worked for NAPA Auto Parts for the past 12 years. Before that I was a Chrysler tech and filled in for Parts dept on Saturdays.
I came to work for GM last fall 3 days before the STRIKE as a Part Time Counter Guy at my dealership. Then In November Of last year I took over the Dept as Manager. It has been one heck of a first year for me. Dealing with the strike now all this COVID 19 stuff. So I feel If I can make it through my first year. I will have it made.
Anyway I may be on here asking a few questions from time to time. Hopefully you all can help me out.

Welcome aboard... and good luck to you. You sure did find an interesting time to join the club. I've got 35 years in this business and have never experienced anything like the last 10 months!

Welcome Rick.
I started in parts in 1975, have been a manager since 1981 all GM stores. I've seen a lot of changes over the years. Like any job it has it's ups and downs, but it's been a good career for me. Life is evolving and change happens, try not to let too much negativity get to you. Not all change is bad, just find a way to make it fit for you. I'm not sure any of this makes sense but I'm just trying to say keep a positive attitude and things should be OK. This forum helps a lot. And with people like Zep33, you will get a chuckle once in a while.
