Delete status -CDK

Does anyone know how long it takes a part on delete status to actually delete and need to be added again?

I swear it used to happen at month end but now they're still sitting in the system as DEL

Maybe there's a setting somewhere?

Every few months, I like to get any aftermarket parts we've added out of the system in case of price changes when we buy the same thing again

Thanks

In all systems parts in "DEL" status delete when MNE runs. The exception to this rule is in GM stores where RIM controls source settings. Two questions come to mind; 1) Are you adding aftermarket parts to the system and if so why?, 2) Are the aftermarkets sold out of their own source or are you using a manufacturers source?

From what I've seen lately if we have one, at month end a part will go to DEL. Then it stays as DEL until the next month end when it's removed from our system.

All aftermarket parts are added to the system and in their own source. We IO them and can't IO a part that's not added. The last dealer group I worked at "required" all parts to be added anyway. I've stuck with that and then had to continue doing it once I found that you can't IO a part without adding it. Kinda sucks but I prefer the guys IOing them instead of wanting myself or them to have to spend the time creating orders and receipting it. I was telling them to just let it go into the negative and I would receipt them all when I got a chance but that was a pain in the ass so I went back to IO

I'm wondering if it's just that source that is the issue. Seems to be the only ones that didn't fall out of the system

That's sounds like that's what might be happening here

WHY ARE YOU ADDING AFTERMARKET PARTS TO THE SYSTEM? NO NEED. YOU CAN STILL USE PDA TO TRACK A PART THAT WAS NOT ADDED TO THE SYSTEM.
AND YES WHEN YOU MANUALLY DELTE SOMETHING FROM THE SYSTEM , IT WONT ACTUALLY DELETE TILL MONTHEND. NOW ALSO REMEMBER WHEN SOMETHING DELETES YOU DONT HAVE ANY TRACKING INFO IN PDA AFTERWARDS. HOPE THIS HELPS

Okay a little off subject here, but.... Why not add aftermarket parts to the system? I got tired of having techs stand around waiting for a used car oil filter. I started putting them in the system, in their own source. Built up some history and started stocking them. I did the same thing with wiper blades. The parts advisors didn't like it at first, because they had to use the vendors on line ordering system to look up the parts. They were used to calling the parts store for a "Used Car Special", which was wiper blades and an oil filter. In fact the vendor had pretty good VIN filtering and we did not have to find out engine size if we needed it. I even starting queing a stock order on these items. It seemed to save my techs working on used cars alot of time. Even before stocking these items, it seemed to be faster to bill them as cost and list did not seem to change very often.

IN/Out - it receipts and bills the part at the same time. Skipping the need to create an order, receipt the part, and then bill it

in CDK - When you put the qty you are selling, you put a space and then IO (ie - 2 IO) would receipt and bill 2 right then and there.

We only use it for aftermarket parts
