Cost plus 10% here. Shipping is added as a pass through at cost if incurred.

Cost plus 10%, for employee and immediate family. We're small enough that Parts knows what everyone drives. My guys are usually good enough to tell us if it's a buddy or side job. Then I'll give them wholesale.

I've found that the privilege gets abused by employees. Especially when they have been allowed to "charge" by previous management.

Parts employees - Cost. We have a small group of guys and this rarely gets abused.
All other employees - Cost + 10%. Works well, except for a few tech's who do side jobs. That said our counter guys are getting good at figuring out it's the same one or two guys and just charge a higher % (20-25% usually). We used to have tech's leave invoices open, then magically on Monday they'd settle up. Now stuff gets charged to their accounts immediately and accounting deducts it from their pay no questions asked.

Service labour is 50% of the door rate. Again it used to actually be "free"...IE bring your car in on a Saturday and make a deal with a tech...but it got abused and revoked by our GM. All cars in the shop must have an RO open. Now there are some loop-holes (mostly for the service writers making ROs disappear), but for the most part it's still fair.

I was told that in NJ you can only deduct from an employees check, insurance... taxes... 401k.. and any court authorized garnishments. Otherwise, I'd love to let them have an open charge account.
