As I am sure most of you know by now GM has Customer Satisfaction Program # N202309631 which allows a customer to request a new trailer information label be installed on their truck. We have a few of these ordered and / or here. The cost of this label is (was) $123.27.

We installed one today and the warranty clerk submitted the claim. It paid $103.98 SHORT!!! The reason for the short payment was the parts cost. After looking into this I learned that GM changed the price on the label three days ago (August 10). The label was $123.27, we were invoiced for all the labels received at $123.27. As of August 10 the price is now $49.00.

123.27 x 140% = $172.58
49.00 x 140% = $68.60

172.58 - 68.60 = $103.98 ---- THE AMOUNT THE CLAIM WAS SHORTED

I spoke with pricing - there is no price protection on the part number.

The labels we have on order cannot be cancelled and all were ordered before August 10, they will invoice at $123.27

In my opinion this feels like GM stealing from the dealership. We have zero control over what happened.

Was there a message about this that I missed? I ran the number on the locator and there are several dealerships in the area with labels on-hand. WE ALL NEED TO MAKE STINK OVER THIS ONE.

I have 2 labels on hand right now, ordered and received before the price change, that haven't been claimed yet.
I'll talk with our warranty admin on Monday and see what we can come up with.

NOT COOL.

We had the same thing happen to us on a transmission a few months back. We paid $3,000 for it and dealer cost dropped to $2,350 4 days later. Of course GM wants to pay us on the $2,350. We're still fighting it from March.

Gosh I wish I comprehend who/how they decide to price things. $130 label...probably costs a quarter to make.

Your COST can be recovered on this label. You will not receive a mark-up on the cost difference between old and new costs. GM is allowing the difference between old and new costs to be entered in miscellaneous net amount, your warranty admin will understand. You must attach (upload) a copy of the GM parts invoice showing the old higher cost for this vehicle.

Did and got paid.
