Toyota caliper core charge

Last Sept, Toyota added a "temporary" core charge to some of their calipers in hopes of starting a rebuilding program for them. They had always been new with no core before.

Instead of adding these cores the usual, correct way, they just added $60 to the cost and $60 to the list price.

So the customer is paying for the core whether we get it back or not. If we do get it back, we can get $60 back from Toyota.

I don't understand their thought process behind this as it's not normal at all.

At the beginning, there was an actual core charge added (in CDK only - not actually charged by Toyota), along with the part increase so that screwed up the accounting side of things. Then they dropped the core charge from the price tape but a setting in CDK never got rid of it.

A call to CDK and they figured out what was causing it.

But is anyone else having issues with this? Or even know Toyota has done this? Unless you saw the bulletin, I don't know how anyone would even know
