How many of you still do the GM PARTS GROSS TRANSFER to your service departments and body shops? It seems some years back that GM said it was no longer necessary to do it, that it was up to the dealers discretion to do it or not. Also those of you who have body shops, how many of you split or give your body shop any gross from parts that are from other makes?

We still give service 50% of CP gross.

Im not a fan whatsoever, Small store, that amount is usually our make or break, and it usually breaks us every month

Parts still donates 50% of the CP gross profit to service every month here and it often times help service get to break even or help them make a profit. Without it, our service department would be in really bad
shape. Do I agree with it...no and I am not just speaking from a parts perspective! Every department within the dealership needs to be able to stand on its own without being falsely propped up with moving
numbers from department to another department. The better GM dealers that I know have done away with it much like no other OEM every used this accounting entry and it never made any sense to do within a GM store. It is a very old ancient way of GM accounting that was done decades ago and many GM stores never have done away with it.

Every department within the dealership needs to be able to stand on its own


My previous dealer strongly believed this. The dealer I am at now (Subaru) doesn't transfer but our Chevy sister store does. If you can't stand on your own you are doing something wrong is my belief.
