DEPLOYING ROOF RAIL AIR BAGS

DEPLOYING ROOF RAIL AIR BAGS

Postby PARTSPHIL » Thu May 05, 2022 4:05 pm

Has anyone deployed any of these recall air bags yet? Any tips or pointers? The recall states to deploy them immediately. I plan to wait til the RO pays then deploy them and hold them.

We did a few already we deployed the bags and scraped them as N202324251 says.. No need to hold them the bulletin says quote.. Handle the removed airbag as follows:
SPRAP THE AIRBAG MODULES. THE REMOVED AIRBAG ASSEMBLIES MUST BE DEPLOYED IMMEDIALTEY UPON REMOVAL FROM THE VEHICLE..
Hope that helps!!

Did you just use your standard deployment fixture?

Our tech uses 2-15' of wire with wire clips (roach clips) and he uses a battery booster to set it off. He does it in our back yard so to speak. Years ago they used a 9v battery to set it off and that worked also.. give it a try..
Good luck.

I stuff them inside ground hog holes in my pasture and set them off.

Did anybody else see the cost of the side airbags?? My ass got especially chapped when I saw they were all under $200, when I had just billed a non-recall curtain air bag to my body shop and the insurance list price was $1050. I get recall parts are going to be cheaper, but come on.......
