Obsolescence

I used parts broker direct when we closed down and combined with our sister store. As mentioned you pay the freight and generally are paid 50 cents on the dollar, plus a brokerage fee. It's better than moving the obsolescence to a new location, and on a few high dollar items the buying dealer sent them back but made the mistake of paying for them on the invoice. My gain, their loss, they went into the scrap pile.

I like the idea of padding the oil cost and selling price, that adds up quick. Reminds me of the "Oraplan" Montgomery Automotive had many moons ago, you could purchase at a discount or if you optioned to pay regular cost, put the difference between the two into an account. Over a period of time you would cash in, receive a check and chuck the obsolescence. I still have a few pieces at home from those days including two reverse lamp lens for a '66 Oldsmobile Delmont 88.
