GM Being "Helpful" again

GM Being "Helpful" again

As some of you may know there has been a stop sale on 2010-2017 GMC Terrains for some time now. The issue deals with the headlamps. The fix - in fine GM tradition - involves installing a "applique kit" on the face of the headlamp.

Yes, folks we are installing a sticker on the outer surface of the headlamp to stop the lamp from projecting the light that makes it non-compliant. Looks very attractive in the photos.

Better yet, the stickers are not available from GM CCA. Parts have to be ordered on 1store and there is zero dealer allowance for processing, receiving and "selling" this "part."

Why does GM continue to force dealerships to perform services without any respect to what it costs the dealer to perform the service? VERY FRUSTRATING

What do you think? Should we be paid a handling fee?

Who handles these types of things at your store.

GLOBAL shows cost at $4 per kit. No sign of an official invoice yet...... but three months from now, there may be a mystery charge that surfaces.

Thanks for the cost update. When I ordered, from 1-store, I checked EPIC and the part number was not recognized at that time. Today, it is there. Can't order it - but it is there.

According to the bulletin they will be provided at no charge. So I suppose we are handling these for free. Once again, take away money from the dealer. Plus they give the tech a whole .2 to do this. Good luck with that. Oh wait, sounds like a job for the detail department.

Bulletin # N222363740 states you receive $20 handling allowance, straight from bulletin until they update and remove probably but for now you should be taking the $20

"* For USA & Canada: Submit the dollar amount reimbursed to the Customer in Net/Reimbursement. Submit $20.00 USD ($25.00 CAD) administrative allowance in Net/Admin Allowance."

That $20 only applies if you reimbursed a customer for a previous repair.

There is also a $10 reimbursement when a request for reimbursement is denied.

There is zero dealer allowance / payment for handling these appliques / decals.

As camaroman stated, we get to do all this work for free.

I would encourage each of you to go into SI and send a feedback complaining about the lack of payment for parts handling. If we don't complain this will happen more and more.

Today we replaced a back-up lamp bulb in a Buick, the labor paid 1/10 of an hour (six minutes). Imagine greeting a customer, writing it up, dispatching to tech, tech pulls vehicle in, diagnoses, obtains part, installs it, moves it outside, completes his story, then the RO is booked and the customer is walked to cashier and the office does all their things, then it gets submitted. DO ALL THAT FOR 1/10th of your labor rate. Then GM wonders why some services at dealers cost more. This stuff has to be made up somewhere.

Rant paused for now...
