Our dealer wants to know how many exclusive Buick parts we have in stock. I asked CDK if there is a report to tell us, but the CDK person said no. Does anyone here know if it's possible? We don't stock many body parts so I know it cannot be a very large number.

So far as I know, there is no indicator in a part or group number that would give that information for CDK to extract. If I was tasked with that, I would probably tell them no. Unless you want to put all your parts in the catalog and check usage individually with say just parts in body groups, I think you're outta luck.

I can't imagine why stat matters in the slightest. The real question is if you have demand for the parts on your shelf. If the stocking and return plan are good, you have the correct mix of Buick parts.

General Motors does some kind of inventory analysis at a steep cost. You could ask if they are able to report that.

with cdk you should be able to go into PM and select batch change, go to quantity on hand punch in >0 , arrow down to mfg-1, punch in letter B for buick then f3 then f2 this should give you the part numbers applying to buick only with quantity on hand. you could put these on an excel spreadsheet to compare to your inventory ..... hope this helps

I’d have to verify, but you should be able to generate a report in RPG based on ABCD field. There is a way to isolate ‘B’ manufacturer parts. I believe it’s a tertiary designation. The irony is, which would in my opinion favor your stance, would be, if successfully run, would include all the parts that are Buick only as well as those that are cross-line parts. I’d be hard pressed to imagine anyone having anything ‘Buick’ specific other than ornamentation or wheels, per se, that would be stocking items. Other than that, what’s the point? Just sayin’.

Unless the dealer is pondering dropping the Buick line,

Go through "Part number search" and make sure MFG-1 is showing. Use ALT-T to be able to filter and click on "B" by itself. That should be the list of Buick exclusive parts.
