SMART KEY FOB TESTER?

what are you using for a smart key fob tester? I have seen a few that show different frequencies, on them, but I'm not sure how you are to tell which fob would have which frequency.
I tell most our customers that if they have a message on their DIC, then it needs a new battery, but some still want them tested. With the tester that we have it just shows if it is putting off a signal, but not whether it's putting off enough signal to allow the vehicle to start.

We have the Bosch EL-43241-A Remote Keyless Entry Tester which is ok for a quick and simple test.

I prefer to use an actual volt meter to see if the remote battery is above 3V.

You can get a cheap volt meter at Harbor Freight.

We use a Toyota RF Detector.

It has a red LED that that ranges from weak to strong when you press the buttons on the fob

PN is 00002-09001-01

works well for us

For years, our GM fobs, the contact tab for the battery would break off the board. It helps to see if they are infact transmitting.

99% of the time it is just a battery tho, youre right

I cannot count the number of customers that have come in...."According to You Tube this was what I needed to do and this POS still does not work, put a new battery in........" Split the case open and the battery still has the protective tape on the negative side.
