What is your markup on your back counter?

What is your markup to your service side? Most of the stuff we sell is around 40% GP. Curious on what other shops are doing.

average markup is 41, with a sliding scale to get more money out of small items and get costlier items closer to list.

sorry, GP is 41. don't recall the markup factor to get 41 gp, and don't feel like mathing.

I believe a mark-up of 67% will get you about 40% GP which should be most manufacturers list price.

We use a very aggressive parts matrix setup . To properly be a profit driver and keep the lights on you have to make sure to utilize a properly balanced parts matrix system. You will have your family priced items like Air , Fuel ,Cabin , Plugs , Wires etc.. BUT beyond that you should NOT be selling regular list on anything in the shop . We have a warranty parts mark up right now of 94.2 % because of our properly run matrix setup .

WE ALSO USE GM'S MATRIX, AND IT GIVES US A LITTLE CUSHION IF A CUSTOMER IS NOT HAPPY WITH PRICE. MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE THEY WINNING WHEN WE KNOCK 20-30 BUCKS OFF PRICE.
