How do you manage your non rim parts? Do you put it in a different source? Run a weekly stock order? Run it as DRO?

We DRO and upgrade to CSO as needed; no special sourcing. DRO parts are not returnable, so choose wisely. Compliance should go out the window in times like these, but historically does not.

If you’re not putting these parts in a different source how are you managing your stocking?

In CDK, I set up a report in RPG to identify State Code 01 with 12 month sales greater than 5, with zero OH. You can run one with whatever sales value you choose, but I figure if it’s moved at least 5 times in year, it may be worth ordering. A lot of times, campaign numbers are on the list but I disregard those numbers. Don’t know how it’s done on other DMS.

We had CDK load a dict item called NEED into the Part-No file that subtracts the Current On-Hand from whatever number is entered in full bin. So, you enter how many you want to keep on-hand into the Full Bin field using PM. Then you set up a RPG or Enhanced RPG report that includes the dict-item NEED but not equal to zero so thereby you have a quick RPG telling you what you need to manually order and how many.
