Packaging Issues?

Packaging Issues?

Postby ScottParts » Fri Mar 01, 2024 8:27 pm

So, what, exactly, is a "Packaging Issue"? I have 2 Hoods (that I remember off the top of my head), that answerbacks tell me "PART 85112716 IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE DUE TO
PACKAGING ISSUES. PER SOURCE THE TENTATIVE DATE FOR RESOLUTION IS UNAVAILABLE"

Really? Can't come up with a cardboard box? There's no executive's brother-in-law that owns a cardboard plant?

Basically the source themselves informed the people in charge of monitoring the parts status on GM's side that they are unable to package the item safely for transport. Usually more than just a cardboard box is thrown around most parts. Like this for example, is a hood. Hoods are tagged with a specific code that marks them as high risk of damage so they have to like overpack the fire out of them from the source and require special packaging. Also, fun fact, it is a local only part and can only be sprinted in its first time shopping phase so if you need one and another dealer has one and you don't have a spac, add one and hope and pray they can get it in the system since it has been a butt lately.

Anybody else getting damaged grilles?
I have had about 4 of them still waiting on my replacement RFI on one and waiting to file a second part # once there is more stock available.

They don't have enough materials inside the box and the cardboard scratches the grille during shipment...

Which part #s? I haven't seen issues yet, however if I stock any, I'll go double check them.

Thanks! The 85622836 we had must've been good enough to install (and may have even been the old PN) because it is gone.

What did RFI say when you contacted them?

Both of those have some scheduled to ship from the source and some already shipped. I would go ahead and get ready to start the engine. I don't have any of either in stock or else I would sprint them if they popped up during their shopping phases. Or sprint the 85666073 to you via ED since it is a fully sprintable part.
