So, I have this customer that has a 2005 GTO, original key will not work anyone as it is worn down to almost nothing. I got the key code, went to cut the key and it completely ate it! Called the key machine company. They told me I had to do it with the laser bit but the old school key holder. It still ate it! I have one key left and I really don't want it to get eaten too!
Any suggestions on how to get it done right?

That's a tough one. That was a side cut laser key if I remember right. They are unique and unlike any other key GM offered. I'd reach out to a locksmith to cut the current blank you have, or possibly see if you could get a precut from GM. It even gives you specific ordering instructions in the catalog. Good luck.

Unfortunately the local locksmith hasn't ever seen one like that and GM keeps cancelling my order with a pre cut with no explanation on why. I'm so confused :? But alas I haven't given up yet. lol Hopefully I can get something figured out.

are you putting an H in front of the key code in the note field ?

those keys are a pain.. if i remember .. you have to have an immobilizer code to program those. sometimes the code is in the key code, sometimes it is on the bcm...

yes, H has been put in front of the key code when ordering. After yet another phone call to GM they told me that all I could do was keep trying.

If I remember right some codes needed the H in front and some needed the number 6. Not sure what vehicles that was for.
