DRO to CSO Upgrade Eliminated

: In the last DFOAB meeting, the Supply chain subcommittee agreed to disable the feature of upgrading to CSO in an effort to prevent DRO originating orders to go to SPAC.

As of May 15, 2024, PWB+ will no longer allow DRO orders to upgrade to a CSO order type. This change is being implemented to address the following issues:

• Order line cancellations when the DRO part quantity exceeds the CSO limit of 25 pieces.
• Orders referring to ship direct in error resulting in a canceled order.
• Order cancels because part (e.g., batteries) is ineligible for CSO order type.

Dealers who required a backorder DRO order should submit a CSO order for that part. Dealers can still upgrade any CSO order that meets the requirement to become a SPAC, an urgent order, if required. For orders that do not meet the SPAC guidelines the order should be placed as a CSO3.

So if we have RIM parts that backorder at our local warehouse and don't refer out through the chain, we have to cancel the order and place a CSO? Brilliant!

Workaround: If you want to make sure you have stock OH when this happens, you can do what I do.

RIM managed part, SC=02, orders on a RIM order. Unable to upgrade. If it's something one of your WD's may have, cancel at GM and order at WD. Not to worry, part will still be protected as
RIM is a third-party site that only see's that RIM placed an order, not whether it has actually shipped directly from GM. Only sees that the part was ordered and there has been NO SALE since last order date.

On the other hand, if no stock at WD, you should still be able to cancel the RIM/DRO order and place CSO, which the same protection should still apply.

And they still think AI is the way to go. :D

Stupid. When changing backordered DRO to CSO GM would overnight it and not charge you. Now if I want it that soon I will have to pay to overnight when ordering as CSO.

Nice workaround, jdpetey!! Thank you for that.

GM's version of brilliant: sending this information out on 5/20 but declaring it active as of 5/15.

I like JD's workaround. Some lines we will take it in the shorts as the WD's costs will be higher than GM, but you are getting the parts sooner and customers on the road.

Works great when getting RIM managed Powertrain assemblies from Powertrain Dealers at a discount when they backorder at GM. RIM ordered, protected, get instant discount, get credit for PASE, etc. What's not to like? :D

You may not get them overnighted, but they will write to another PDC if stock is available. At least they are in que.

ive been cancelling the back orders and reorder cso using same rim number and i have been getting the parts in, not as fast because they don't upgrade to ovn unless you put a spac case on them but at least we get the parts, not a perfect work around but it seems to work
