GM sources for CDK users

Postby Torgy » Mon May 20, 2024 9:32 pm

Are they any expert CDK users out there that have found a way to have certain group #'s feed from the pricing tape into a specific source?

eg. If wanted to set up a powertrain source to include any parts added to CDK is groups 00.000, 4.003, & 4.503. Is there an option for this automatically done from the price tape?

Simple answer: NO

GM Parts get sourced according to the price tape indicator.

100: Where superseded parts get moved to when price tape shows a supersession and price tape is updated.
101: Default GM Parts
102: Price Link B with no list price
103: Price Link M with no list price
104: Price Link W with no list Price
105: Unused: We use for dumping of reinstated parts that RIM is still 'watching', but CDK has met phase out criteria
106: Ship Direct GM Parts
107: GM Accessories
108: GM Tire Program Numbers

When added, the price tape has the last number, i.e. '7', to sort it to 107 etc.

Any other sources are manually set up and parts would have to be 'batch changed' to get them there by group, etc.

Hope this helps

Not at a GM store, so I am not sure this would work...
Many years ago I had parts written down to a penny on CDK. To prevent the cost reverting each month, I set up "mapping" to not update cost for that source. This was done in PMU > field maps.

Could a map be created to prevent the source from updating? This might help once they are placed in the correct source.

Yes. If you create a source for specific parts, I.e. engines, transmissions, menu items, etc., you can map it so that those parts won’t be moved back to their default Source when PMU is run.

On another note, in PM, you can set items to not update on an individual basis.

I chose to do that for items like Refrigerant and PAG oil.
