LPO'S

How are you handling these. We get billed from accessories for them, but have never billed them out. Just wondering if this is the correct procedure or not.

yes.. sadly.. they are billed directly to the unit they go on. if you look at the inoice it is billed to gm, shipped to you with the vin number.. atleast ours are

now on wheels, our adi bills up separatly for the cores and we get credit when we send them back eventually.

i told my office i would never pay an lpo wheel core invoice ever...

last year my adi called me as my account was 90 days over due, in core charges on wheels gm had not delivered the vehicles yet... go figure..

This is indeed a terrible program, as crap rolls down hill and the Parts Department ultimately has to deal with it. I have worked at three different dealerships, and the process is pretty similar for each one. Here is how we handle it. The part show's up and depending on what it is, it gets staged in either the Parts Department or the New Vehicle Prep Department. Parts holds onto anything a technician puts on, New Vehicle Prep puts in floor mats/liners, etc. Every PDI inspection we receive from Service, a parts counterperson will go to the staging area and pull them for the Technician. However, there are a few flaws with all of this. In some circumstances, Sales will dealer trade the vehicle before any of this happens. At which point Parts will then have to Ship the parts or the Sales team hires a driver to deliver them to whomever they traded it to. And for all that work, Parts may possibly get a bonus (if certain sales criteria for the month happens) from GM. They should really think about revamping it. But I doubt that'll ever happen. :cry:

we had one last week... gm yukon was ordered with a different grille. customer saw the truck before it was put in. wanted the old grille put back in. and that one sent back.. nope

We have our ADI drop them in our prep dept so we keep them separate from our parts department.
Also we do not put any of the wheel core bills to parts. It is all handled in our prep. dept.
We have made it so it is automatic and not parts concern.

LPO = leave parts out ~ so that is what we did.

man i wish my dealer would do that.. last year i started paying a part counter guy a spiff to take care of it.. i did get asked why i was paying a spiff on something with no profit. my response was why are we taking care of a program for sales and service with no profit... someone has to do it. either do it yourself or pay the spiff..
