I have seen dealers do a couple things when using the automated special order system feature.
You can use the 2065 Special Order Postcard/Label program to print labels that can then be affixed to the package.
If these labels don't work for you, you can create your own label using 6930 Letterwriter. 6930 will allow for more flexibility in what is printed. The only thing is that you would need to print the labels prior to receipting the order (which I have seen some dealers do).
I have also seen dealers use removable tape and handwrite the name on. Since many manufacturers print the sp-ord name on the packing slip, this is not too tough.
Whatever you decide, I highly encourage you to stay with it. The advantages of this feature far outweigh any issues you may find.
Let me know if you need help with anything (i.e.; 6930 setup).

LABELS LABELS LABELS!!! WE HAVE USED S/O LABELS FOR MANY YEARS AND THEY ARE BY FAR SUPERIOR TO S/O CARDS. I ALSO AGREE THAT THE 6930 FUNCTION IS MORE VERSITILE IN CREATING A LABEL THAT SUITS YOUR NEEDS.

Some of the parts bar code systems provide automatic special order identification and labeling at time of receipt.
ADP offers this feature, as does PartsTRAC, by GigaBytes. The GigaBytes system will work with any host system, including R+R.

The Reynolds SmartScan bar code application can also print special order labels.

I stopped using the SO cards by running a pick ticket when we order the part. When the part comes in we mark the part with 3M lo tac tape with the customers name on it and then call the customer using the phone # on the pick ticket. It's been working well.
