Inventory issues.

38 yrs as a parts manager i was never off on my inventory count by + or - $1500.00 until in 2006 i was off by $20.000.00. my DP was was not happy but i kept my job, then in 2007 i was over by the same amount. found out later that the auditors found the accounting error but wanted to wait until the 2007 inventory to make the adjustment, did not tell me until after the 2007 inventory. you also need to find out who has access to the parts side of service RO'S. i knew of a service manager that could go in and reopen closed RO'so and change the cost and sale price of parts and add the difference to the labor side. this made it look like the parts sale % was inline. not a GM store. service personal should never have access to the parts side of the business.
