Anyone here got a good way to break into the Accessory Biz? We are a small/mid sized GM dealership, and I would like to use name-brand stuff, but where do i go to buy direct from the Manufaucter? GM's stuff is overpriced (unless you buy an obsence amount), and extremly hard to get (order a set of 2000 Corvette mats if you don't believe me). Anyone got a GOOD source?

A couple of ideas:

Check out www.autoint.com. They sell a variety of aftermarket accessories and could advise you on building the business.

Also, Jon Titman of E & G Classics gave a presentation on building an accessories business at the NADA Convention this year. His phone is 401-381-4900.

Thanks for the plug on our site autoint.com, but we are a manufacturer of car care chemicals, don't have the stuff you are seeking. I would offer some advice and that is for the polish etc. lines. One, don't compete with Kmart, Walmart, etc. The products sold there are way discounted and I beleive that you should offer your customers quality, not advertised smoke and sizzle. Check with some local jobbers, many have lines that are not at the mass merchandisers. Like someone else said, go direct to people like Lund, Weld Wheels, etc. Pick a line that is quality and you can use their tech info and Point of sale material to make your store a truly professional source of supply. While we do not promote our products for over the counter sales, many dealers have selected some items and push them as truly proven professional products, using our web site as their validation of the selection. Sorry I could not be of more help.
