How do they expect you to unpackage an engine
and have an acceptable crate to return it in.

Another can of worms!!! Looks like the General is trying to drive another wedge between the parts and service dept. I can hear our techs now screaming "its not my job to drain trans fluid or to carefully open engine crates, that is the parts depts job". And you know the debit will be on the parts statement. I know how it will go when I try to charge a debit back to the service dept.,"it was a part, it's your problem". So glad that the General wants us to work together. D Cleveland

Im not worried who takes it apart but if you
read the print on the crate(to uncrate engine
remove lag bolts)its physically impossible to
do so without destroying the crate.

IB#00-180 must be overturned! This policy creates many problems. How can we quote a sale if we have no idea how much core credit we'll get. He can we know if a chargeback is correct when GM is in possession of the evidence!! Complaininf among ourselves will do nothing. I've faxed my protest to the Fixed Operations Advisory Board, the PDC Council, & my DM. Get the Dealer involved! Its his (her) money. I have a copy of my protest on file for your use.

or, you could do what I have been doing for about 2 years now....charge out the core as part of the job on customer pay, and on warranty, debit the service department with any cores GM hits you with (happened once to me, trans got sent back without a Torque Convertor). I also stopped letting a tech near an engine crate. I unload it, and put the engine on the hoist myself, because I know how to unbolt lag bolts just fine, thank you. (This also happened after we got debited 2 engine cores for no crates). I wish we had an alternative to sending the cores back to GM personally, but I am not going to feed the aftermarket either.

MY PARTS REP IS ALWAYS BEATING ON ME NOT TO
BUY FROM MY A/C DELCO SOURCE. THIS LOOKS LIKE A GREAT PLACE TO BUY MY ENGINE AND
TRANSMISSIONS FOR C.P. WORK NOW! AND YOU WON'T HAVE DEAL WITH GM'S HEAVY CORE RETURN
JUST RETURN THEM TO DELCO. THEY JUST DON'T GET IT AND NEVER WILL THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE IT TO HARD TO DEAL WITH THEM!!

I don't know if this is good news or bad news
but a last weeks GM Parts Club meeting the GM
reps were very aware that dealers are not pleased. This subject is on the PDC Council meeting agenda for Dec. 8 (PDC 032). We were told at our meeting that there is an unofficial grace period thru the end of the year. Did we cause them the have 2nd thoughts?
