Ford in theri steady march to increased profitability at any cost has implemented a service parts warranty pre approval program.

If a part sold by a dealership fails within that parts warranty period a dealer is required to obtain the original invoice from the customer, vin #, mileage, RO # on which the replacement part is going to be billed to, and call a usually busy 800 number and wait for a call back to obtain prior approval prior to issuing the replacement part.

I'm curious of any other vendor has a service parts warranty pre approval system.

I can tell you that Toyota does not have anything like this.

I too would like to find out what other manufacturers policies are.

Do you think we can we get at least one reply for each manufacturer out there?

DaimlerChrysler doesn't have any kind of requirement for authorization on "Mopar" warranties unless you go into an out of line condition then they will flag it and require District Manager or Service Manager authorization.

THE ONLY CALL IN AUTH GM REQUIRES IS FOR THE AC DELCO ENGINE AND TRANS WARRANTY. THESE ARE NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH THE GOODWRENCH OR SRTA WARRANTIES. HOWEVER, THE DEALER IS REUQIRED TO HAVE THE RO COPIES,ETC. TO BACK UP THE CLAIM.
