GM Cores - light or heavy?

GM Cores - light or heavy?

Postby Zep33 » Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:49 am

Is there a way to tell if a core is supposed to be light or heavy?

I know engines, transmissions and torque converters are always heavy cores and I have to wait for a label from them

But with light cores, I just print of the screen from Global and ship them back. Usually, I can do it the same day I put them in.

This morning, I put 11 cores in on the same application and they seperated one of them for a valve body so I'm not sure if I need to wait for a label or not. Part # is 24241890. I'd think it would be a light core and I'd like to get rid of today if I can.

Can't find anything on Global specific to part #s whether it would be light or heavy.

any ideas?

thanks

On your answerback in the upper right corner, just below "Affix core id label", If it reads "staple this document to your freight bill" it's a light core. If not you are waiting for a heavy core tag. Yes, some valve bodys are heavys..

Awesome - found it. I never looked at answerbacks for cores before LOL Didn't know they did that.

Actually says it right in the title of the answerback

Weird - that I've never had a problem getting core credit without printing that answerback document.

I had always just done a print screen from within the MR status screen

Heavy cores, you just make up a bogus 9 digit number and put it in that block.

SUMMITED A HEAVY CORE LIST OF 3 PARTS USING RANDOM 9 DEGIT CORE ID, ONE OF THE PARTS CAME OUT TO BE A LIGHT CORE WITH THAT ID ON ANSWERBACK DOC. DO I HAVE TO RE-SUMMIT(NEW) THAT LIGHT CORE WITH A CORRECT CORE ID AGAIN? DOES IT GET CANCELED IF I DONT SENT IT?
