Anyone out there have any experience with the Remstar computer controlled vertical storage bins?
We have purchased one 27 ft. vertical carousel and two 27 ft. vertical shuttles, which we will be installing during our remodel later this year. Im looking for any information on the setup and use of these bins. Im also interested in how the interface between the Remstar computer and our ADP system will work.
Any information would be appreciated.

I just got some of the Stanley-Vidmar drawer system bins, and have seen the type you are talking about at Sewell Cadillac in Dallas. The one thing I have been told since we got our Vidmar's is that they are absolute hell to inventory, as are the mechanized bins.
I plan to do a perpetual inventory on these bins, just to make the count easy at actual inventory time.

Hi Richard,
Ive used the Stanley-Vidmar drawer systems in the past and loved them. I also found that doing an inventory on them was a piece of cake. The thing to remember with the drawer systems is you have to have a good bin numbering system, one that will sort properly on your inventory pads. Good luck with the new bins, Im sure youll like them.

Hi eweirick!
I am the parts manager at a GM store that has just moved into a new building & am utilizing the Remstar machines. I have a 25' shuttle & a 25' carousel & love them. I was hooked on the concept after visiting Sewell & Van de Griff. I did extensive work on the setup of my system & am working with Remstar to establish a standard for binbox/compartment setups that will make things easier for anyone considering this storage method. I beleive that a standard is imperative if this wonderful concept is going to reach the mainstream of acceptance in dealerships. If you or anyone else wants to contact me for more info, then post a reply here & let me know how to get in touch with you.

p.s.: anyone out there preparing to build a new store should be looking at these machines!
