$ to parts people ratio

can anyone tell me how many parts people per $ sales should be in the parts dept? total parts people, or just counter people. i beleive i remember chrysler saying it was something like $25,000. per person, but is this $25k in total sales at cost? is it for ALL parts personnel, or just counter help?

This number can vary. It is your gross sales per employee in the department minus the parts manager. This includes your parts advisors, inventory control, drivers and such.

We have found, through experience, that the larger the wholesale operation the more people it takes to do it and while the gross numbers might stay the same the profit numbers don't increase quite as fast anymore. The numbers we have seen are around $25,000 to $35,000 per employee.

Gross Profit per employee should then be between $15,000 and $20,000 based on the above numbers.
