GM On A Roll Tire Program

GM On A Roll Tire Program

Postby Louis » Fri Dec 06, 2002 5:51 pm

As we know the Goodwrench Service Plus program is going away after the first of the year. That means dealers like us who were not a "plus" dealer can now enroll in the GM On A Roll Tire Progarm. Our dealership is taking a hard look at the program but would like some comments (good or bad, pros and cons) from other parts managers or service managers that are on the program. How has the program been working? Has it been profitable? Are the tire prices from GM competitive with other wholesalers, etc?

Any comments you have would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Louis

GM On A Roll Tire Program

We've been on the program from the begining. It took a little while to get ourselves in gear. Prior we used to sell tires, but only rarely because our pricing could not compete with the tire stores. The On-A-Roll tire prices are fixed by GM and at a much lower price than we were able to get from our local supplier. Also, all the pricing is in the GM price master and is updated with each new master. The catalogs are also well laid out and list all manufactureres side by side by tire size. The key is to find a vender that is on the program that can provide you with quick service and good inventory. One vender was pressing us to stock "fast moving tires" from their recommended list. After checking sales history, I found we never sold any of those tires. That's because there are so many tires available. Otherwise it's been a good experience for us so far.
