Great Issue to bring up on this forum.
Correct me if I am wrong here???? Based on what I know, isn't OEConnection a joint venture by GM, Ford, and DaimlerChrysler with Bell & Howell onboard?
This venture is meant to compete, if not totally replace the One-Touch and PartsVoice locator programs, correct?
Who out there is using this tool yet and is it working for you..... I would love to hear some feedback from all who know anything about this program and where it is going. As, with any locator, the whole key is who has the bulk of the dealers on it....
Thanks,
Chuck Hartle'

We are a supplier using OEconnection.it is not a locator , but a parts ordering system using the internet . It works very well and anyone who has taken a few minutes to try it and learn how to use it is very happy with it.It is a much better way of placing orders for the body shop, and is much more efficient for the supplier.

WE ARE USING OECONNECTION AT ARE DEALERSHIP.I WOULD SAY THAT J HART'S DISCRIPTION OF OECONNECTION IS CORRECT AND WOULD RECOMEND THAT ANY DEALERSHIP THAT DOES A LOT OF THEIR WHOLESALE BUSINESS WITH BODYSHOPS SHOULD REALLY TAKE A LOOK AT IT.

Chuck, please allow me to help clarify. I am Mike Reilly w/OEConnection - Richfield, OH.
OEConnection is a venture of DCX, Ford, GM & Bell & Howell. We actually have 2 products:
1)CollisionLink - for body shops ordering parts from OE wholesale parts dealers
2)D2DLink - a dealer-to-dealer parts locator
Both products utilize Internet technologies for improved up-to-date parts information.
To Bob S.'s point we co-sponsored an event @ Larry Roesch Wholesale Parts in Chicago bringing together dealers & body shops to network via CollisionLink.

I work at the same wholesale supplier as John H. We have been using Collisionlink from OEConnection since last November. It is awesome and has contributed to a boost in our sales. I have a strong I.T. Background. One thing we found is that you cannot simply invite shops and expect them to start using the product. We have done a great deal of marketing via direct mailers, open houses/demonstrations, and in shop demos.
Nearly every shop that came to our open house has signed on with Collisionlink. We sell multiple car lines, so, shops that were using us on only 1 or 2 lines, once on Collisionlink, begin using us for all lines because it makes ordering and tracking so easy for them. On our end, it helps minimize returns because it improves accuracy. It also allows our reps to write more orders in less time.
OEConnection has another product called "D2Dlink" - this *is* a locator, and totally separate from Collisionlink. (sort of... more on why later). GM and CHrysler both have decent locators, so it is not likely to get very popular there, yet. Ford has no decent locator, so very many ford dealers are jumping on this.
The connection comes in when you (the dealer) receive an order via Collisionlink. Call up the order, verify the part numbers that are flagged, check stock and ... ooops... there are 2 parts on this order we don't have. If you have D2Dlink, you simply click on "locate Parts" and it locates those 2 parts for you. Want them? Select the dealer you want them from and click "order parts" and the parts are on their way to you.
With Collisionlink, you and the Body shop get to track the status of your orders at all times. With D2Dlink, you get to track the stuff you order from other dealers.
In a few years, every player in the wholesale business will be doing orders this way.
If you want more info, go to: www.oeconnection.com
or call their sales number 888-776-5792
If you want to talk to me, call the sales number and ask to talk to my rep there, James Jarvis. Tell him you'd like to talk to John Pindelski from Roesch... he'll get you in touch with me.

Hi Chuck,
Could it be possible that you were referring to The new Ford locator D2D Link .
We have recently installed it. As time goes on I can tell you how well it does.
I know that Ford pushed this product very hard the day their exclusive contract with DCS (UCS AIM locator)) had expired. I can tell you that because of their persistance a very large % of Ford dealers are signed on. I think we (West Coast) were the last to go up. It looks state of the art. I will reply again in the near future.
