OUR FRONT RETAIL/WHOLESALE COUNTERMEN ARE PAID 250.00 WEEK SALARY
9% OF INDIVIDUAL GROSS PROFIT
1% OF DEPARTMENTAL TOTAL GROSS PROFIT
250.00 BONUS IF THEY EXCEED THEIR
SALES GOAL BY 10% OR MORE

I have found by paying % off gross with a salary works very well. The percentage should be set base on a 12 month gross analysis.

Some dealers pay off individual performance. This can be cut throat sometimes.Have them working as a team. Make sure that you deduct one or two things from the total such as freight and policy. This may help the dept. on the bottom line and make the parts personnel charge out some freight and keep policy low.

In order to give a more definitive suggestion, how many countermen are in your dept, how many techs in shop, and what is your average monthly gross profit?

The reason I ask is that some pay plans are more effective in a small dept. vs. a larger dept; and vice versa. Tying a portion of the
countermen's pay to service dept. productivity can be very effective in medium to larger-size depts; to the benefit of both.
