We require all parts personnel to wear steel-toes.Also we are to wear safety glasses when cutting keys. Our techs and service manager wear steel-toes. They are supposed to wear safety glasses most of the time, but that seems to be spotty.I don't agree with all of this but it is nice to have a job.....John

I would suggest you check with your insurance carrier. Our insurance carrier does not want our tech's wearing steal toed shoes, but we do require work boots and have worked a deal with a local red wing shoe dealer for special billing and pricing.

As for safety glasses we are in the process of preparing a document for employees to sign regarding wearing them. We are going to be seriouly enforcing this policy in the next 30 days.

As for gloves it depends on the job. But our insurance representative comes and walks around our dealerships on a quarterly basis. In his last visit he took pictures of safety violations and risks we were taking. These will be discussed at our monthly safety meeting, but your insurance provider should be able to give you some good advice.
