How many hours per week do you put in?

Regardless of your business hours or pay plan, on average how many hours per week do you parts managers spend at work?

Depending on whether or not I'm shorthanded,(actually I'm always short handed) Sometimes between 60 and 70 hours per week.

At my current dealership my hours are 7:30 - 5:30, five days a week, hour lunch, if I am lucky. So I guess that makes 45 hours mandatory. Probably about 50 on average.

My previous employer the hours were 8:00 - 5:00. I was always in the building prior to 7:00am and rarely - if ever - left before 6:00pm. Most Friday nights I was in the dealership until 9-10:00pm - year end time I was always there until midnight on Fridays. Weeks were always 60+ hours and I only worked 5 days. By year end I mean from mid-December until February.

Interesting enough my sister cannot understand this. She works for a company that tracks hours and follows employment rules to the letter. She cannot understand why I would work for "FREE." She also doesn't understand why I don't get overtime or comp time. I tell her you have not worked for a small family business where you are responsible for nearly everything - including making money for other people.

Interesting place a dealership.

I can't complain. Current Sales manager is in the building before 7:00 am six days a week. He works until 6 on "short" days. Long days he is here until 7:00. He works until 3:00 on Saturday. That guy is nuts. Oh yea, he doesn't take vacations either. Maybe a long weekend (3 days) a couple times a year.

~55 hours per week. Small store here, so I can see how being at a larger store would demand significantly more hours. I have talked with the owner and explained to him that I am the first one here every morning and I will ALWAYS get my work done and done well, but I have a wife and a new baby at home...so come closing time I am gone. Fortunately, our owner is understanding of this.

Our hours are 7-6 m-f, 8-2 on Saturday. I work 7-5, and every other Saturday. We are a small, slow store and are open far too many hours. Often we don't see our first car until 8 or 8:30, we rarely see a car after 11 on Saturday and usually don't get more than 4-5 cars on Saturday. So I'm 45-50 hours, and I never stay late unless my employee needs time off, vacation or leave early. It's not too bad I guess considering. I have plenty of time to get done what I need to, because we are so slow.

I open the place up around 7:15 every morning and leave around 5:15 (store hours are M-F 8-5)

Average about 53hrs/week here. I work every other Saturday, but I am paid extra for that, sssshhhhhh. We are open 8:00 to 5:00 M-F and Sat. 8:00 to 12:00, I open the place around 6:15 and I am out the door at 5:00. Only work half of the staff on a Saturday, not a money maker by any means.

We are open Monday through Friday 7:30 am untill 5:00 pm. I usually get here about 6:30 to 6:40 am and leave at 4:00 pm or shortly before, sometimes earlier if I feel like it. Take a one hour lunch and I do NOT do Saturday. If I have something else I need to do during the week day I just go do it. I have a good crew and have been gone as long as 10 work days on vacation and come back with only one or two issues to straighten out. If it didn't get done today then tommorrow is another work day, no point in stressing over it.

Our official hours are 7:30 - 5:00 but I have a crew that starts at 4:00. I usually get in at 6:30 and stay until 7-7:30 so I average around 60-65 hours per week. We are open on Saturdays but do not come in. I will process paperwork from home.
