NO SALESMEN

Postby nansorbdarb » Wed Mar 26, 2014 11:53 pm

Does anyone here, have a "no salesmen" sign of any sort? Something to point at whenever an Oreilly's or Autozone rep or salesmen walks in. I just had the Oreilly's store manager, an Advance Auto commercial rep or agent or something, and an Autozone sales call, all in one week. ITS ONLY HUMPDAY! I am putting my foot down on this. You can only say please and thank you so much before it just gets as annoying as the "Hey! How bout them Packers!" guy on the phone. So all the walk-in sales calls will be treated the same way. I'll just ignore them, and point at the sign.

LOL - just went through that with an AutoZone salesman coming by for the 3rd time in 3 weeks. And the last time with his boss. Annoying as f.

Threw the salesman under the bus with his boss too. We did try to get a heater core for a Honda from them last week since we couldn't get one same day from our regular supplier. The salesman had gone back after visit one and set us up in their system so if we called, we would be all set. Well, he set us up under some name that has nothing to do with us so when the heater core showed up to them, no one had any idea where to bring it. We called the next morning looking for it and they had it there under some other company name. By the time we finally got it from them, we returned it. Not because of what had happened, but because it turned out to not be the heater core once the tech got in there for a better look. Oh well

As long as they don't come in too often, it really doesn't bother me. They never seem to be rude, just trying to get their foot in the door.Having found myself out of work a few times, I had to consider taking an outside sales job. I've always figured that could be me someday. Now, telephone sales people.....

Thanks,

John

I keep telling these guys the same thing, I don't buy crap for aftermarket. My department does not see much for used cars and I only order maybe 1 or 2 aftermarket parts a week. 50% of the time they are for employees. Basically, there should be no reason for all these parts stores to be hungry for my business. The worse part is that I sell VW, and they always have sales pitches aimed at the european parts. We sell universal antifreeze and batteries for all the euro cars... I just say, congrats.

However on the upside of things, they'll replenish my pens and notepads faster than my office does.

Instruct your counter people to ask "Did you have an appointment"? When they say no, then have them tell the salesman that if they want to speak to the manager, "you'll have to call for a appointment". They never will and you won't have to talk to the schmuck.

Had an area rep for Oreilly's order a 2.00 trim part for his olds alero. Mind you, he would stop by monthly to pitch specials. One day he comes in trying to sell me Sea Foam, I am not interested nor are my techs...BG spiffs my advisors and techs. Anyhoo, I mention the special order part, he say he will come back in a bit. A month goes by and he comes in with a rep from Sea Foam wanting me to see a demo. I ask if he is going to pay for his part, which he informs that times are tight for him and he doesn't have the extra 2.00 in his family's budget. I ignore the sales pitch, he sees that i am fuming and he leaves.

I call the manager of the store and draw the line. your rep pulls a cold call shenanigan like that again and oreilly's will never sniff my business again. (I do 100k of aftermarket!) Needless to say, the rep was at my store the next day with 2.00 in hand and he hasn't pushed any product since.

If you come to my store to solicit, I highly recommend pizza. If you come empty handed, better be pretty and have a nice rack or I have no time for you. (I jest, just hate sales calls. no offense intended)
