Battery warranty question.

Battery warranty question.

Postby camaroman » Thu Apr 03, 2014 6:58 pm

Need some help here. If you sell 78A battery on an RO, and it fails within the 18mnth warranty period how do you show it on a RO cost wise? You would get credit from the supplier for the full amount. We are on ACS and not sure how to do it correctly without messing up cost of sales and GP. Any ideas??

Not sure about ACS but we are on Autohate and the only way to do is not to sell it at all. Just have the service writer fill out a note line that a 78A Delco battery was replaced at no charge refering to previous ro# ????.

Cost and sale on ro will be $0. Acdelco will exchange out battery at $0. So one will come out of inventory and one will go back in inventory at 0 dollars.

We bill out a replacement battery from my inventory and change the cost aand sell to $0.00. That way it shows in the part history that one went out. When the free replacement comes in from the WD we receipt it at $0.00 cost.

I have batts and cores in a seperate inventorys so when we warrant one we zero the sale and the leave the cost, reciept the replacement and youre good. I also do a monthly inventory on them as we sell alot of them.
