2008 & 2009 HHR are now recalled - ignition switch

Postby drapp » Fri Apr 04, 2014 8:21 pm

We have two HHRs in our service department. Our DMS automatically checks IVH for recalls. Both of these HHRs, one '08 & one '09, have an ignition switch recall # 14092. We cannot find any information about 14092 - it is not in SI. We checked IVH manually and this recall shows being released yesterday 04-03-14.

I have heard that the repair procedure for these vehicles will be different and the parts may not be available until OCTOBER...

Any of you see this on any other 2008 or 2009s?

14092 the General states that no information yet also. They in dark as we are. Another bright idea. Did get a case number in case of a issue.
15886190 SWITCH, IGN & START (ACDelco #D1497F) (Service Lane Part) 2008-2010 cobalt on this
23215459 SWITCH, IGN & START (INCLS PASS LOCK SENSOR) (ACDelco #23215459) A2005-2007 cobalt on this
Are or is what the catalog is showing bet it will be the 15886190. But not wanting to take the chance. As insane as this is.
Just wish GM had done a preshipment on this to everyone. The media needs to back off & look at their self"s on this. It has created more pain.
Wonder if any one at GM reads these?

Why couldn't GM ship every dealer lets say 20, when you have filed 20 warranty claims you get 20 more, or 20 a week for x number of weeks and the dealer takes over ordering after 4-6 weeks. We as dealers are smart enough to get the car sitting in our lot done first. As for the press maybe if they would report how we have to jump through hoops and the obamacare/gm web site has been working it might get them to back off us and put the pressure back on GM where it belongs.

Volkswagen does allocated campaign parts.

They put quite a bit of time and calculations into the system and it has work great for the dealers and the customers. Always had enough for demand and when campaign wound down dealers are left with one or two or zero and hand.
