Looking for information on which key cutters that GM dealers are using. We are looking to bite the bullet for a laser cutter that also can cut the traditional keys. Any feedback would be appreciated.

We run both a Laser and a PC+. That is based on the volume we do. The cutter heads for old style keys on the laser cutter is like $150 each and when bounced against the volume it is more econimical to run both. Our PC+ is ours but I do keep the warranty on it at $799 per year.

Like Gerry, we use both PC Flash and Lazer from Curtis/Barnes/MSC (both leased). We try to collect a $10.00 cut fee on the laser cut keys to offset some expense.

We also use the Lazer from Barnes/MSC. We have had it 2 years, and still can not duplicate keys with complete confidence. It does 97% with a key code, providing the display is working properly. We went through 4 machines in the first 6 months, and had the engineer here for 5 hours one day. Needless to say, he was baffled when I could still make the machine malfunction in one motion.
I like it though. Beats having to be at the mercy of the local locksmith for anything. Before this, we had nothing!

BD laser.... no problems here. We charge 20 for a code and 10 to cut. Yeh once in a while you have to eat a key but I would say its correct 98%
