Dealers Will Definitely Lose Parts Sales

GM has done it again. I read an article in Automotive Week Monday March 11th issue# 1259 that AC Delco is forcing dealers to buy from only 1 or 2 WD's within their APR (area of primary responsibility). Dealers had the option of purchasing OEM parts from over 400 different sources until April 1st. Now dealers can only buy from GM SPO or the 1-2 WD's in their APR. AC Delco is forcing the WD's to focus on installer business within their APR. This will take business away from the GM Dealers that sell parts to these installers. Dealers will now be in direct competition with WD's for the installer business. This decision from AC Delco will also hurt customer service in the dealership. Consider this....a customer has a car down in the shop and GM has a part on back order. The one or two WD's in your APR do not have the part in stock. Another WD in a different APR could have thousands of them in inventory and the dealer could not purchase from the part from them because AC Delco will not allow it. What does this do for your customers? To do something about this issue you can access the NADA, your State Associations and GM Dealer Council by going to www.nada.org click on media center on the left hand tool bar and then click on state associations on the left hand tool bar.
