Parts looks up the codes and cuts the keys on a machine they pay $750 a year maintenance on but our service dept. claims they get the .4 GM is paying because they have to use the tech-2 to program them? Any thoughts out there?

Parts is getting the equivalent of.2 of the warranty labor rate. In our business office they subtact it from the service labor and credit it to 687. At least that how we do it here. We have talked to other dealers and that is what we have all agreed to.

The parts dept. gets f*@ked here. We cut and code the cylinders for free.

we are getting $21.23 (equivelent of 2/10ths) for cutting the key and pulling codes when necessary for similar reasons stated by Mike1010. we do NOT code the cylinders.

Here they are giving it all to the techinicians, but my warranty admin said it was only .1 for key cutting.

We give it all to both my service departments. We have always cut and coded in the parts department for them. I told both my service managers that the first tech, writer, or dispatcher I hear complain about waiting for the cylinder will be the last one that the parts department codes. They have all been very pleasant since then!

We are cutting keys and building cylinders in parts and getting $38.49. Bring them on!!!

We have agreed to .3 to cut keys and code the cylinders. We are pre-coding the cylinders. I'll take that all day long. 687...
Programming does not have to be done with the Tech II. Programming takes 20 seconds.

Here as well.... we even get the decode for the cylinder coding for them, and they still whine.

Nothing here - I do the keys - techs do the cylinders. They get all the money aside from the parts markup
