The latest bulletin on the "re-call" really needed this remark!
"GM is making this request because a review of the warranty claims for the referenced ignition switch recalls has shown that the number of kits shipped to dealerships for customer vehicles is significantly higher than the number of warranty claims submitted. Timely submission of warranty transactions as described in the specific Product Safety Recall notification is imperative, as the warranty claim provides confirmation that the recall repair has been completed. "

Lets see now, we waited as much as 6 weeks for the parts only to receive "multiple quantities" at sporadic intervals and now we are supposed to put every other customer aside and jump through hoops to get them completed in a "timely" manner. I swear the folks at GM must be smoking something we aint seen in Kalifunny yet!!!!!!!!!!

Plus- does GM think that these customers have sat on their hands for up 9 weeks waiting for these parts? No, most of them with common sense have gone on with their lives, taking the 2 lbs of $@!$( off the keyring and driving the damn car. GM didn't hurry to get the parts in, why should they hurry to get it fixed. I had one guy that siad he will wait until he can get all 4 of his keys replaced when he gets his recall done. I told him merry christmas, we'll see him then!

GM ordered one for us, but cancelled the overnight part because they didn't have any stock, so I've had to order and make SPAC cases for all of ours.

Unless GM hires a bunch of people to just check this recall returns and, if my math is correct, if they open every warranty return box (1.4 millon) and they move really fast 1 minute per box(not going to happen) it would take over 2 1/2 years to just look in and make sure that the parts were return. Does anyone really think that will happen?

X476: That is not what they are looking for. I would lay odds that these thing get hit with the bar code receipt and then hit the trash. No return part (common for Dealers to toss on recalls), no warranty pay on the RO, INCLUDING rental. Betcha a cold beer on that one!

We have not had to enter our this way since the webex. Part number, quantity, customer name, full VIN. Done.

On the original line of comment; we got 31 kits in Monday 6/2/2014. We can not imagine cutting, coding, calling & scheduling 31 cars into our already tight as #%@&$ schedule at the drop of a hat. So, back at you GM: " we appreciate your patience........"

I am with Cliff on this... remember the added note that the barcode MUST BE on the outside of the box.

Duh !! We have been doing this for years, we know. but because it is mentioned, it is not a coincidence, IMO.

Are they gonna share some of that "soma" with the rest of us ??

~ gt

edit: as far as the SPAC cases, the non-SPAC case procedure is only for the ign switch kits. the Lambda belt kits are taking SPAC cases, and we are entering a slew of them too... The GM server really slowed down yesterday about 5pm EST. I think the Lambda belt kits may bring the system to its knees again.

One of the bulletins also asks you to write "IS" in red ink underneath the bar code.

edit - but I don't see that bulletin/notice anywhere now. Must have removed it to fix an error. Should have printed it. I think it was from Monday
