IS SNAPON THE ONLY PARTS CATALOG SYSTEM OUT THERE FOR GM DEALERS? Does everybody use the PC's provided by SNAPON or is it possible to by seats and use your own equipment? We do not want to get locked into a contract without knowing whether we will keep our current DMS system.

Yes, SnapOn is the only EPC vendor for GM. You can use your own PC's as long as they meet
the specifications required by SnapOn.

Remember when you lease the equipment from snap on, the maintenance is taken care of by snap on. We have had to replace 2 computers a monitor and also a combo fax printer copier. All at no charge. If tou use your own your own you are at the mercy of your IT dept. Any DMS can be run on the snap on equipment

Yes Snap-On is it. If you do sign with them, see if you can have an "out" clause put in the contract. Its a pain to try and ammend the contract for any reason if you don't.

As previously stated Snap-On is the only game available. However, you can sign up for a one year contract. The pricing is dictated by GM so if GM changes your contracted cost will change anyway - read the fine print.

We sign a one year deal every year. Yes it is a pain but if we decide to change equipment or whatever we are never more than a few months away. Currently we purchase only the software and use our own computers. In the past we have used Snap-On (or previous owners) stand alone PCs and once (5 year deal) we used their server and client set-up. The server was a good idea at the time but that was the old "blue screen" catalog - you know the really fast one.
