I know GM's warranty period on parts is 12 months/ unlimited miles when it is installed at the Dealer but is it the same for over the counter sales? I believe it is but I cant find anything in the P&P manual that states that.
Is there a bulletin stating the warranty for both over the counter sales and parts sold through our shop?
Thanks

ps. All of the Parts Warranties are all described in the Service Policy and Procedures Manual, located in the Service Workbench under Reports and Tools on GlobalConnect.

Parts warranty is not applicable if the vehicle the part was installed on has a warranty block. Doesn't matter if the part had anything to do with previous damage.
We recently changed the oil and filter on a vehicle and the filter leaked a few days later at the seam. The parts warranty was denied due to installation on a "Blocked Title" (BT) vehicle. We ate the cost.
Just glad this didn't happen on an engine or transmission.
Was told we should council customer that no warranty will apply to repair. That is a good way to make the customer feel welcome and build trust in our dealership.
