Do any of you have special racks for tool storage. Our General Manager is looking at doing something with our tools and was wondering what other dealers use. Currently we have them scattered since our remodel, not a good situation. Any feedback would be appreciated.

we bought the Vidmar drawer system from GM tools. It works out pretty good, just not a lot of room for expansion, but our tool room is only 12 x 8 so we had to find something compact.

Ours are all over the floor and it tubs, it's horrible. Most are missing, empty black cases. The only ones on shelves are old, obsolete crap. Scott's store they have peg boards hanging on hnges like a giant book on the wall. The spots each tool goes in has it's outline drawn in black and the sticker. The cases are all on shelves in numerical order. It's the only decent setup I've ever seen. Only the SM has a key to the room, and his inventory is almost spot on.

Well we took the plunge about a year ago they told us parts will handle the tool room from now on
we had certain conditions first one build a room in our whse upstairs 24 x 20 done , only parts would
have the key done, one person in parts issued out tools when he can when he finished with his freight
and when techs that work on saturday they get tools they need on friday we also use excel file to track tools.
the way this works tech gives the # tool he wants to a counter guy
counter guy brings it to whse guy or calls him , we said we will not have hot headed techs say get it now
done , no tools are loaned out its only for shop use done , also that
it would be inventoried and moved , they hired TOS TOOL ORGANIZATION SYSTEMS
1-888-245-0050 ask for matt best thing we ever did woody and dawn are great
you can go to the site map and see before and after of tool rooms across the country of several different types
dealers .
