GM Catalog - Solid State Drive

GM Catalog - Solid State Drive

Postby drapp » Mon Jan 26, 2015 8:31 pm

Has anyone here run the GM Parts catalog on a solid state hard drive? I am curious if you noticed a speed increase switching to a solid state drive.

I spoke with Snap-On support. Apparently they have run tests but the person to speak with wasn't available. Another agent stated the catalog - even the new one - hasn't been written to take advantage of this type of technology. Therefore, the increase in speed may not be noticed.

I bet if you have it on a workstation, the difference might be huge. Over a network, probably a little faster but maybe not enough to make it worth the investment?
