Consigning tires vs purchasing tires for inventory

I am looking to get a few tires racks from a local tire supplier and they are offering to consign me the rack as well as consign me a few sets of tires for my inventory. What are the pros and cons about this? Should I consign or just purchase them out right? I am not sure what I should do? If consigning them would be alot more confusing to keep track of etc...

I switched to consignmet about a year ago. I have about 90 tires in stock. We used to buy them and keep them here but the consignment is nice because if they don't sell they "arnt yours"
Ours started off them giving me the tires and as I sell them they bill me for one (on the program) and they ship it to me. No phone calls needed its all done through D2D. They provided rack and do free scrap removal also.

We have all our tires on consignment here, great relationship with our supplier. When we sell them, we reorder them by ordering through the GM Tire Program or directly from them depending on the cost of the tire. They don't mind supplying the tires on or off the program. The only drawback is that they have a large network of their own stores, the closest is 10 miles away, not like next door but they are competition to a point.

I own mine. I can control the inventory much better and my supplier and I have a great relationship.
We meet twice a year walk the lot to see what the new models have on them and update our stock if needed.
If I don't sell anything for awhile I return it for full credit.

If you have the right supplier, either should work. I did a successful consignment with a local supplier and it went easy. Swap out when I want..

I guess if you consign, you need to account for this during a physical inventory. It is on your inventory but not really yours.
