Accessory IBPs DO NOT Pay Labor for Warranty

These are not considered warrantiable parts by GM. All warranty is to be through the manufacturer. I could have possibily defected them out through my ADI (even thought the first one was 4 months old) but that still does not pay my labor. My ADI is instructed to have the dealer work with the manufacurer. I don't think they will RFI an accessory. Even if they could it still doesn't pay labor. GM set up this contract with IBP. If the dealer has to cover the labor and do extra work to take care of the customer why should GM care? It saves them money. I have to spend all this time monkeying around just to get another part and then eat the labor on top of it. This is a very poor set up for us and it makes it difficult to take care of the customer. I think I am done with any Accessory that says IBP. "

Again, thank you for the information, most people are not aware, and with GM shoving the accessory quotas down the throats of our Sales Depts. , we are all bound to run into this situation sooner or later. Service managers need to be aware in order to recognize the lack of reimbursement from GM.

Dealers don't deserve this, technicians don't deserve this. I could never approach a customer, with a new vehicle loaded with accessories, to let them know labor is not really part of their accessory warranty. It takes away from the Sales Dept's selling point of "being covered 3/36 if installed prior to delivery" doesn't it? Are we to exclude those items from IBPs? :oops:
